Wildcats edge Liberty, 15-10

Thursday night, the Junior girls from the Greenville Parks and Recreation Departments basketball league took the floor as their season is quickly drawing to a close.

In the first game of the twin bill, the Liberty fell victim to the Wildcats 15-10.

LaKerida Savage posted eight points for the Liberty in their loss. On the other side of the coin, the Wildcats were led by Nikki Durant with nine points.

The Wildcats opened the game with a 6-4 first period lead and then held their opponents scoreless during the second period taking a 12-4 lead into the intermission.

The Liberty seemed to get it together in the second half and outscored their competition 6-3 but, that was too little-too late for the squad in black as they were unable to rebound from the scoreless second period and fell victim to the Wildcats 15-10.

Mallory Jones provided the other two points for the Liberty, while Janessa Hawkins, Takila Walker, Marvia Scott and Tonyetta Gregory tacked on baskets for the Wildcats.

In other Greenville Parks and Rec Basketball action:

Sparks 12 – Pistons 4

Kiera Cook tacked on eight points to push the Sparks over the Pistons.

The Pistons offense was a dual attack with Jasmin Norris and JaQuesta Crenshaw each having a basket. Jalissa Simpson and Tykela Crenshaw each had a basket in the Sparks victory.

Pee-wee Boys

Lakers 28 – Pistons 7

Jakheem Davison tacked on 12 points for the Lakers in their solid victory over the Pistons. Raymond Colley, Char-Darius Davison and Jarquez Riley each added baskets for the Lakers. For the Pistons, Andrew Foster tacked on four points and Regionald Mitchell had three points in the loss.

Kings 10 – Celtics 4

Lavarus Peagler tacked on six points as the Kings downed the Celtics 10-4. Jaquann Lewis and Devonta Savage tacked on additional baskets. For the Celtics, Charles Bain III, and Tremaine Jones made up the team's four points.
