All-stars are always a special part of the season for any young athlete. It's there opportunity to take the floor with players that are of equal or more talent and play to represent their city or community.
For the Senior Boys in Greenville Parks and Recreation Basketball League, their opportunity to represent the city came on Feb. 26 when they traveled to Enterprise to compete in the district tournament.
Under the leadership of coaches Willie Smith, Tony Powell and Billy Thurmon, the group of 18&Under boys took the floor first against Dothan's blue squad.
Greenville was able to pull away and in turn posted a 75-70 win to advance to the finals of the tournament held later that day.
In the tourney's final game, Greenville pushed ahead of the host team, Enterprise, and never looked back, en route to a 101-84 tournament championship.
As a result of their two victories, Greenville won the Senior Boys district championship and a bid into the state tournament.
