The Fort Dale tennis team took the court Monday afternoon against the Cottage Hill Warriors and when everything was said and done, the Warriors were left soundly defeated.

Fort Dale swept the match on both sides of the court. On the guys' side, Carson Moseley downed Jacob Camp 10-0, Andrew Jones defeated Grant Martin 10-1, Stephen Butts knocked off Max Hill 10-1, Conyers Poole shutout Fuller Talbot and then Edward Poole found himself in a dogfight with Dustin Scott. Poole, however, pulled out the 10-8 victory.

"When Cottage Hill first got into the AISA we thought they were going to rule the roost," said Johnny Mack Brown, coach of the Eagles. "The boys won it a couple of years in a row and then the girls did and then all of a sudden they aren't the team they used to be. We are real surprised they aren't any better than they. Especially with them being from Mobile where they have 50 tennis courts at one complex and we barely have four here."

Moseley and Poole defeated Camp and Scott in doubles, 8-2 and then Jones teamed with Butts to knock off Hill and Talbot 8-1.

On the other side of the roster, the Lady Eagles were equally as successful. Laura Skipper and Janie Mullins knocked off their opponents to start the day. Neither Cottage Hill's Crystal Murphy nor Catlin Kennedy was able to score a point against their respective opponents.

Whitney Jacks defeated Brooke Lane 10-2. Kayla Butts defeated Kaylen Hunter 10-0 and then Renee Scott defeated Susan Ramsey 10-1.

Skipper and Mullins combined to shut out their doubles opponent, 8-0, as well as Jacks and Butts.

Fort Dale was playing Crenshaw Christian on Tuesday, scores for the matches weren't available at press time.
