McKenzie notches first win of season

The McKenzie Tigers were finally able to put a complete game together and pick up a win. That win came over the Panthers of J.F. Shields High School to the tune of 12-4.

John Reid and Cory Willis proved to be the big sticks for the Tigers. Read finished the game three-of-five with three singles and 3 RBI.

Willis finished three-for-four as well with three singles and 3 RBI. Satterick Rudolph, Jake Page and Chance Davis finished the game one-for-four, each with a double and multiple RBI's. Johnathon Bush finished the day two-for-four with a triple and an RBI.

McKenzie posted five runs in the inning to set the tempo for the rest of the game.

They posted a run in both the third and fourth innings, followed by a pair in the fifth and then three in sixth inning. The Panthers John Williams went two innings while giving up six runs on five hits and faced 13 batters.

Carlos Jones took over for Shields and gave up six runs on six hits in the loss. Defensively, the McKenzie Tigers gave up two runs in the first and then a lone run in the third inning.

Davis kept the Panthers caged the entire game, going seven innings with 14 strikeouts and a pair of walks while facing 27 batters. The freshman allowed two hits and four runs.

Mike Williams, Cody Stallworth and John Williams all contributed runs in the losing effort.

McKenzie will be in action March 21 when they play host to Paxton (FLA) High School. First pitch for that game is set for 3:30 p.m.
