Crenshaw Christian Academy held commencement ceremonies for its 2005 senior class last Friday night.

Class salutatorian Emily Morgan said to the crowd of family, teachers, friends and classmates in attendance that graduating was 'much more than a simple ceremony.'

"CCA has taught us about respect, commitment, enthusiasm and love," she said in her address.

Morgan Welch, Class Valedictorian, said her family oftentimes referred to her as a 'purple snowflake,' meaning someone who stands out from others. She urged her fellow classmates to never fear being labeled as 'different.'

"Don't be afraid to color outside the lines," she said. "I don't even color inside the coloring book."

Welch told her classmates there would be 'tests of character', but that their parents and teachers had prepared them to face those tests with determination and resolve.

The 2005 CCA graduating class was awarded a number of scholarships.
