July is right around the corner, which means the YMCA Watermelon Jubilee is only weeks away.

For those who plan to have a booth at the event, slated for August 13 and 14, the deadline for doing so is fast approaching.

&uot;We have a cutoff date of July 10 for vendors to sign up; we will accept no more after that. So we want to remind everyone to come in, or give us a call, so they can reserve their spot now,&uot; YMCA Director, Amanda Phillips, said.

As of Thursday afternoon, more than 30 vendors had already signed up. Phillips said the office had been fielding &uot;a ton of phone calls&uot; in response to a mass mailing on Jubilee that went out to various chambers of commerce.

&uot;We expect to have quite a few more vendors from that mailing,&uot; Phillips said.

Musical entertainment is being lined up for the two-day event, along with several fun contests, the Y director said.

&uot;We will have a seed-spitting contest, biggest watermelon contest, and this year, a watermelon coloring contest for the kids,&uot; she explained.

Watermelon Jubilee is slated to run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
