Believe it or not, the first production of the Greenville Area Arts Council's 2005-2006 season is less than two weeks away.
The deadline for GAAC season tickets and memberships is even sooner. Information and monies need to be turned in no later than Sept. 5, Labor Day.
The season kicks off at the Ritz on Sept. 12 with the "Legends of Yesterday" Tribute Tour.
"We always have some people who procrastinate, and with the hurricane on everyone's minds, it's even more true this year," Roberta Gamble, GAAC membership chair, said.
According to Gamble, those who contribute $25 or more to become GAAC members will be listed in all the programs for the year. They will also be invited to lavish post-production parties and to the Gala Benefit and Silent Auction held in the spring.
"However, in order to get everyone's names in our program for our first production, I have to have everything very soon. We want everyone to receive recognition, but we need those checks," Gamble said with a smile. Membership monies go toward paying the artistic fees for the season.
The cutoff to purchase season tickets is also Sept. 5. Season tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students, as opposed to $20 and $15 per individual admission ticket.
Three stage productions - "Legends", "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" – are planned for the GAAC 2005-2006 season, along with Main Street's First Annual Sweet Gum Bottom Blues Fest.
"I think we have another fabulous season on tap, and we looking forward to kicking things off with the 'Legends' on September 12," Gamble said.
Ticket order and membership forms should be sent to Roberta Gamble, 4011 N. College St., Greenville, AL 36037. Contact Gamble by phone at 382-3414.
