Boss Employee Reunion

Boss Manufacturing Employee Reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Beeland Park. Bring your favorite covered dish and enjoy the memories.


Royal Priesthood Banquet

The Royal Priesthood Banquet is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Dunbar Community Center. Minister Matthew D. Ellison of Fort Worth, Texas, will be the guest speaker.


Awin Baptist Revival

Awin Baptist Church will hold a revival at 7 p.m. each night on Sept. 11-14 at the church on Ala. Highway 10 W. The Rev. Wayne Mcmillian will be leaading this revival.

McKenzie Baptist Church will hold its 102nd Homecoming Service beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall with special singing at 1:30 p.m. There will be no evening services. Everyone is invited to attend.

St. Frances Missionary Baptist Church will host homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Leroy Gandy of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church as the guest speaker. Revival services will follow on Monday, Sept. 12-16, starting at 7:30 p.m. nightly.

McKenzie Baptist Church will hold revival services at 7 p.m. from Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 12-14. Rev Travis Johnson of Brantley will bring the evening messages. There will also be special music.

The Greenville City Council will holds its regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The Butler County Commission will hold departmental budget requests at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005.

The Butler County Commission will meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 in the Commissioner’s Court in the Butler County Courthouse Annex.

Bender Reunion

The Bender family reunion will be held Sept. 17 at Flatwood music park in Flatwood. Please let all family members and friends know about the reunion for a large attendance. Bring any pictures of family members you may have. Bring a covered dish and lawn chairs.

Moriah Church Homecoming

Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in the Searcy Community will hold homecoming services at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18.

Eric Cates and Mertice Porterfield will present a history of the church. Elder Scott Sexton will speak on Primitive Baptist churches and practices.

Historical information and a cemetery census will be provided. Light refreshments will be served following the meeting. The public is invited to attend.


Pilgrim Rest Revival

The annual revival for Pilgrim Rest

Baptist Church will be held Sept. 18-23.

Sunday, Sept 18 Pastor John McMeans will be the special speaker.

Sept. 19-23 Pastor Marvin Scott will be speaking.

The revival begins at 2 p.m. Sept 18. Services are 7 p.m. each nigh afterward.



The Georgiana United Methodist Church will honor its church member, John Pitts, on his 82nd birthday. His celebration will begin at 11 a.m. with a covered dish supper to follow after the service. The public is invited to help celebrate his birthday.

The Butler County Board of Education will provide training for persons interested in becoming substitute teachers in our school system. n Master Cattleman

For those that may be interested, here is a chance for you to learn more about the beef cattle business.

Monroe County Extension Office will host this program conducted by regional Extension agent, Anthony Wiggins.

Beginning Oct. 10, 2005, the class will continue on Monday nights and cover topics including management, forage systems, carcass quality, marketing, reproduction, genetics, nutrition, health and handling, and BQA certification.

n 21st Century Afterschool Program

The Butler County Board of Education will be offering a 21st Century Afterschool Program for K-8th grade students Monday-Friday until 5 p.m. at W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, and at the Education and Community Center for Greenville Middle School students.

Certified teachers assist with homework and offer learning activities which are fun and educational. Tuition is $25 per month. Call Amy Bryan at 382-2665 for more information.
