Juniors and seniors from Georgiana High, McKenzie High and Greenville High School will get the opportunity to meet representatives from colleges, all of the military branches and from area businesses as well.

From 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. this Tuesday, Oct. 25, Greenville High School will host the 2005 Butler County College/Career Day in the auditorium. According to GHS counselor Pat McNaughton, this event gives Butler County’s juniors and seniors a chance to meet and talk with college representatives, get scholarship and enrollment information and explore different financial avenues.

&uot;Some of our students may not have the opportunities or available transportation to get them to all of these different post-secondary institutions, so we invite them to come to us,&uot; McNaughton said.

&uot;This is also a great chance for the kids to talk with military personnel and find out more information about each branch.&uot;

McNaughton said that the different branches of the military and most colleges request information about the extracurricular activities students participate in throughout the year. The different institutions use this information for recruiting students before and after graduation.

In addition to post-secondary schools and the military, several area businesses have been invited to participate as well.

&uot;We’ve invited Hwashin and Hysco and different businesses and organizations from all over Butler County to visit with us and talk with the students about their future,&uot; McNaughton said.

While each high school is responsible for different things, such as refreshments, folders and nametags, the schools are receiving a big help from the City of Greenville as well.

&uot;The city is letting us borrow tables, and they’re setting them up for us,&uot; she said. &uot;We appreciate the help they have given to us. With everyone working together, we can provide this great opportunity for our students and help them to plan wisely for their future.&uot;
