Medicare Meeting

With the 2006 implementation of the Medicare prescription drug benefit, or Part D, the need for up-to-date information is even more crucial to older Alabamians. With this in mind, a group of concerned health-related organizations joined to make their information and health screenings available. On Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Tom Harbin Center on Airport Rd in Luverne from 9:30 a.m. until noon, Crenshaw County residents will have the opportunity to talk with representatives from the Centers for Medicare Services, Cahaba Government Benefits Administration, Alabama Department of Senior Services, Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation, Blue Cross Blue Shield, AARP Alabama, Social Security Adm., Ala. Securities Commission, Medicaid and dozens of other state and local partners. Information from each of the organizations will be provided and many will offer free health screenings including diabetes and blood pressure testing. There will be Certified pharmacists available. Pumpkins on the Square

Elba will host Pumpkins on the Square Monday Oct.31 starting at 5:00 p.m. – until. Admission is free and the pumpkins can be seen around the courthouse square. For more information please call 897-3125.

Gospel Meeting

Rock Hill Church of Christ will hold a Gospel meeting Nov. 6 - 9. Services will start Sunday, Nov. 6 with Bible study at 9:45 a.m., worship at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dinner will follow the morning service. Guest speaker will be Curtis Sampley. Monday, Nov. 7 through Wednesday, Nov. 9 the services will start at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker for Monday night is Jimmy Matthews, Tuesday night is Kyle Butt and Wednesday night is George Merritt. The public is cordially invited. Directions are travel US Hwy 331 to the 59-mile marker and follow the signs to the church.

Jessie Rainey Day

Jessie Rainey Day will be Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. - until at the Highland Home Football field. There will be soloists, groups and choirs. Headliner for this event is Southern Gospel recording artist Harlon Butron. During this event there will also be a Silent Auction.

Haunted Jail

The Elba Chamber of Commerce would like to announce their 1st annual Haunted Jail tour that will take place in the Elba Jail located on Putman Street in downtown Elba next door to the Chamber of Commerce. The schedule for this event is Oct. 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 and 31 with the gates opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and 12-years and under must be accompanied by an adult.
