Patrician turned three of four Fort Dale turnovers into touchdowns to cruise to a 43-21 victory Friday night in Butler.

The Class AA No. 6 team in the Alabama Independent School Association scored twice off of fumbles and then returned a Casey Weston interception for another touchdown to head into the playoffs on a winning note.

Meanwhile the Eagles drop to 6-4 and will travel in the first round of the AISA playoffs to face No. 4-ranked Edgewood this coming Friday.

Fort Dale played an inspired first half, but the turnovers were too much to overcome.

The Eagles took their opening drive and marched to the Patrician 8 yard line before fumbling the ball away.

Patrician then moved down the field and opened the game with a touchdown.

Fort Dale answered the score on a Tim James 3-yard run with 24 seconds in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7.

But Patrician bounced back to retake the lead until James scored his second TD of the night.

The Eagles' tailback, who rushed for 206 yards on 28 carries, dove into the end zone from 5 yards out. Fort Dale elected to go for 2-points and converted to take its only lead of the game, 15-14 with 4:10 left in the half.

Patrician later reclaimed the lead with 46 seconds remaining in the half to take a 22-15 edge into the lockerroom.

In the second half, the wheels fell off for Fort Dale. Patrician scored three touchdowns in less than five minutes to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles' final touchdown came with 2:47 left to play on a 2-yard run by Mika Jones.
