n Lowndes Heritage Books

The Lowndes Heritage books have arrived and can be picked up from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 2 and from 8 a.m.-noon Dec. 3 at the First Lowndes Bank in Hayneville.

n Breakn Bread Concert

Breakn Bread will be in concert at 7 p.m. at the Greenville YMCA gym. Jonathon Duke will be a special guest speaker prior to the concert. Admission is free. Call (334) 210-0092 for more information.

n Book signing

The widow of legendary James &#8220Cowboy” Ikner will be signing her books from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Alissa's Closet on Commerce Street in Greenville. Call 382-1911 for more information.

n Camp Stew Sale

The Providence/Mount Pisgah Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Camp Stew sale on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. – until. Proceeds benefit the VFD. To place advance orders call 346-2583. Cost is $5 per quart.

n American Legion Dance

American Legion Post 24 will host a dance 8 p.m. until midnight at its post Dec. 3. Country and western music will be performed by Troy Reid and the Straightlyne Band. Admission is $6 for singles and $10 for a couple. BYOB. Call Haywood Palmer at 382-3352 or 437-0916 for more information.

n Yard/Bake Sale

The First Baptist Church of Georgiana will host a yard/Bake Sale from 7 a.m. until noon on Dec. 3 at the church. The proceeds from the sale will go to the youth for summer camp.

n Christmas Musical

&#8220The Voices of Christmas” will perform a Christmas musical at 5 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Fort Deposit United Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

n Deadline to Order Doughnuts

Lurleen B. Wallace Community College's Greenville campus student government association will sponsor a doughnut fundraiser. Doughnuts may be preordered for $5 per dozen. Call Mollie Smith at 382-2133 ext. 3112 to preorder your doughnuts by Dec. 5. Doughnuts will be delivered/picked up Dec. 8 at the Greenville campus.

n Mrs. Claus at Greenville LBW Campus

Mrs. Santa Claus will be at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College's Greenville campus from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 8. She will take Christmas wish lists and will read a Christmas story. There is no chard for admission, but non-perishable food items will be accepted for donations to the Butler County Department of Human Resources' annual food drive. n County Commission

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.

n Athletic Club Meeting

The public is invited to participate in the weekly scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. each Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.

n 21st Century Afterschool Program

The Butler County Board of Education will be offering a 21st Century Afterschool Program for K-8th grade students Monday-Friday until 5 p.m. at W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, and at the Education and Community Center for Greenville Middle School students.

Certified teachers assist with homework and offer learning activities which are fun and educational. Tuition is $25 per month. Registration forms are available at each of the sites.

n GHS Child Care

Greenville High School Child Care is accepting applications for the 3- to 4-year-old daycare program for 2005-2006 school year.

n Greenville Lions Club

The Greenville Lions Club meets every Monday at the Boys & Girls Club at noon.

n Adult Education Classes

Adult education classes are now underway for those who need to obtain a GED or strengthen their educational skills. The classes are free and taught on an individualized basis. Classes meet every Monday and Tuesday at the following locations:


LBW Community College,

Greenville campus – 8:30-11:30 a.m.

n Old Greenville High School - 6-8 p.m.

n Prayer Breakfast

The Lowndes-Butler County first Wednesday prayer breakfast is held at 8 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at Priester's Pecans in Fort Deposit.
