Whether you are an art lover, music lover or simply need to &#8220feed the spirit,” the Greenville YMCA is offering activities this weekend that aim to please.

Music for the spirit

An evening of Christian music and &#8220food for the soul” is on tap this Friday night, Dec. 2, as Winterfest comes to the Greenville YMCA. The event is slated to kick off at 7 p.m. in the Y gym.

The band &#8220Breakn Bread,” a local Christian group, will be in concert that night.

&#8220We think it's going to be a great night and we welcome anyone of any age who wants to come and be with us,” Jonathan Duke, one of the event organizers, said. Duke, a Greenville High School senior, is also going to speak during the band's intermission.

Admission to Winterfest is free. For more information, contact Jonathan Duke at 210-0092.

Celebrating Alabama artists

Saturday morning, Dec. 3, the Y will play host to its first Holiday Art Mart and Silent Auction from 9 a.m. to noon. Alabama artists, both local and across the state, will be on hand to display their work at this event, which benefits the local YMCA.

&#8220Many of the area artists whose work is on display at Greenville's Crepe Myrtle Gallery, along with a number of other artist from around the state, will be featured,” Lori Cummings, event organizer, said.

In addition, clay artisan Lily Kismuk, who specializes in sinuous vessel sculpture and Jenifer Sohem, who creates beautiful architectural pieces from concrete (see her work at www.stoneleafdesigns.com), will be among those artists who will speak about their work during the event.

While admission to the Holiday Art Mart is free, organizers hope attendees will plan to bring their wallets and do a little – or a lot – of shopping for a worthy cause.

&#8220All proceeds, of course, go to the Y, as our wonderful artists are donating pieces to this event. This will be a great time to add to or begin your collection of original artworks by Alabama talents – and what a great gift idea!” Cummings said.
