Annual Christmas Parade

The Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce announced the annual Christmas parade will be held in Luverne at 11 a.m. on Dec. 3, 2005. The parade will begin lineup at the “Old Armory” at 10:30 a.m. Anyone interested in having an entry in the parade, please contact Sherri Richburg at 335-3404. All businesses, schools, and civic organizations are encouraged to participate. There is no entry fee, however, it is asked each entry bring a toy for the toy drive.
Pet Photos with Santa
Have your dog, cat, ferret, rabbit or guinea pig's photo taken with Santa and support the Crenshaw County Humane Society. Photos will be taken at Luverne Park and Recreation Center on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Photos will be taken for a $10 donations, will all proceeds benefiting the humane society. Please have dogs on leashes, and cats, ferrets and guinea pigs in cages prior to the photo.
Luverne United Methodist Church Calendar of Events
November 27 – Luverne UMC begins a series of sermons with C.S. Lewis' classic “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” as a backdrop to explore the truths of Christmas during the morning worship service at 11 a.m. each Sunday. The movie, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” is due to be released in theaters December 9. Pick up a copy of the book and read along as you follow this exciting sermon series.
November 27 – Luverne UMC celebrates with a traditional Hanging of the Greens service at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary. The service will include symbols of Christmas ornaments and the lighting of the tree, along with songs for all to enjoy.
December 4 – Luverne UMC hosts “A Kerry Cochran Christmas” with singer/songwriter/recording artist Kerry Cochran from Montgomery to perform traditional, contemporary and original Christmas songs at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary. Come enjoy an evening of Kerry Cochran's rich acoustic tones of Christmas.
December 11 – Luverne UMC hosts “The Next Noel,” a children's Christmas musical under the direction of Stephanie Jones. See the sights and hear the sounds of these magical young voices preparing our hearts for the true meaning of Christmas at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
December 18 – The Chancel Choir of Luverne UMC presents their Christmas cantata, “Christmas Fantasia” under the direction of Jim Head during the 11 a.m. service in the sanctuary.
Classic Christmas songs with exciting accompaniment and new twists, makes this a fantastic “Fantasia.”
December 18
– Luverne UMC hosts “A Very Bryan Christmas” with Keith and Cindy Bryan from Sprague, Ala. performing Christmas songs that will warm your heart and touch your soul.
December 24 – Luverne UMC will celebrate Christmas Eve with “Carols, Communion and Candles” staring at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary. Bring your family to this 30-minute service in relaxed attire for a beautiful service to highlight your Christmas season.
