SELMA - The Fort Dale Lady Eagles extended its winning streak to eight games Friday with an easy 40-26 over Morgan Academy.

Fort Dale jumped out to an 11-6 after the first period and never looked back.

Frances Watts led the Lady Eagles (15-3) with 12 points, while Morgan Pouncey added 11.

Maryanne Hancock and Pouncey dominated the inside, while Watts provided some firepower from the outside.

Morgan Academy (6-6) tried to match the Lady Eagles offense basket for basket, but could not and fell into an even deeper hole by netting just four points in the third period to trail Fort Dale 31-13.

Lady Eagle coach Reggie Mantooth then emptied his bench to give his younger players some time on the floor, while Morgan Academy fought to make the game less of a blowout.

Jaime Pilcher led the Lady Senators with 12 points, while Alay Bradford chipped in 11.

In boys varsity action, Brady Newton's 3-point attempt to win the game for the Eagles came up just short to extend Fort Dale's losing skid to four games in a 45-43 decision.

The Eagles (5-12) led through most of the game including the end of the third period, but they ran out of gas at the end.

Casey Weston Fort Dale with 25 points, while David Watts added 10.

In a neck and neck battle, the Eagles took a narrow one-point lead at the half and into the final period.

For each Weston bucket, Ben Callaway had an answer in the second half for the Senators (5-7). Callaway not only fought off an asthma attack in the third period, he scored all of Morgan's six points in the third period to keep the Senators within striking distance of Fort Dale.

Callaway led Morgan Academy with 14 points. Blake South and Weston Mason both added seven.
