n Small Business Counseling Session
A representative from the Small Business Development Center at Troy University will be on hand 9:30 a.m.-noon Jan. 26 at the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce to provide free counseling.

n Med-Surge Update Course
Diversified Nursing Services of Selma and the Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Greenville Campus will offer “Medical-Surgical Update” at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 26 in Room 9 of the administrative building. This course is designed for the RN, LPN, Nursing Home Administrator, and other health professionals. The registration fee is $65.00 and includes all course material, seminar, and certificate of completion.
A $70.00 pre-registration will be charged for students registering by telephone to pay at the door.

n 50th Anniversary
The family of Erwin and Betty Edwards invite their friends to join them in the celebration of Ervin and Betty’s 50th wedding anniversary, slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at the Southside Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Greenville. n Stew Sale
The Aberilla Chapter No. 170 OES will be holding a benefit Brunswick Stew Sale from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Wingfield Lodge building at the corner of South Park and Field Streets. The stew will be $5 per quart and $3 per pint.

n 5th Sunday Gospel Singing
The Jubilee Trio will be the featured singers at Shackleville Baptist Church on Highway 15 at 1 p.m. Jan. 29. Also performing will be Charles and Julia Arant. Everyone is invited to attend.
n Church Homecoming

n GHS Student/Parent Talent Show
The Greenville High School Parental Involvement Committee is sponsoring a Student/Parent Talent Show at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 at the GHS Auditorium. Students, parents and GHS alumni are encouraged to participate in and attend this fun event.
Monetary prizes will be awarded to all winners. There is no admission charge. Deadline for registration is Monday, Feb. 6.

The Butler County Board of Education will hold its scheduled meeting on at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at McKenzie School located at 221 N. Garland Road in McKenzie. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

n Looking for musical talent
The Kingdom of God International Ministry Where Jesus Christ is King and Lord, is seeking 120 people to be a part of its Healing Ministry. Auditions will be held at the Greenville Boys and Girls Club at Beeland Park on Jan. 22 and 29 beginning at 10 a.m. Call 834-5974 for more information.
n Boy Scouts fundraiser
The Greenville Boy Scout Troop 520 is now selling Pizza Hut cards. With the card you get a free medium pizza when you purchase a large at regular price. Each card is good for 12 pizzas at the cost of $10 per card. Some proceeds are hoping to go toward a special campout planned for Stone Mountain, Ga. n Kindergarten Registration
Mt. Moriah Baptist Church #2 Christian Academy is taking applications for 4-year-old children for our kindergarten program and school readiness program. Children's birthdates will have to be on or before Sept. 1. This is a free program. For more information, please call 563-7062.
n County Commission
The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.
