n Benefit Yard Sale

The Brooks Assembly of God, which is south of McKenzie, will have a benefit yard sale Feb. 3 and Feb. 4 beginning each day at 8:30 a.m. All proceeds will go to the building fund. The sale will be held at the new church site.

n GMS Pageant

The Miss Greenville Middle School Pageant will be held at 5 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Greenville High School auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

-Feb. 10-

n Planning Meeting

A planning meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at 411 Harrison St. in Greenville for the Aug. 4-6 Greenville Training/Southside class reunion. n GHS Parent/Student Talent Show

The Greenville High School Parental Involvement Committee is sponsoring a Parent/Student Talent Show at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 at the GHS Auditorium. Students, parents and GHS alumni are encouraged to participate in and attend this fun event.

Monetary prizes will be awarded to all winners. There is no admission charge. Deadline for registration is Monday, Feb. 6.

n Board of Education Meeting

The Butler County Board of Education will hold its scheduled meeting on at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at McKenzie School located at 221 N. Garland Road in McKenzie. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

-Feb. 17-

n Stew Sale

The Georgiana Garden Club is sponsoring a Brunswick stew sale from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Georgiana Garden Club Cabin, which is located beside the First Methodist Church. Cost of the stew is $3 per pint, $6 per quart, $24 per gallon and $5 per plate. Orders are now being taken. Call 376-2326 or 374-8053 for more information or to place an order.

n Kindergarten Registration

W.O. Parmer Elementary School will have kindergarten registration from 8 a.m. until noon Feb. 22 for children with the last names beginning with A-M and Feb. 23 for children with the last names beginning with N-Z. Required documents include a certified birth certificate, blue immunization record, child's social security card and two proof's of residence. Child must be present to enroll at registration.

n Softball Meeting

The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department will hold an adult softball spring league organizational meeting at 6 p.m. March 16 at Dunbar Gym. The meeting is for men, women and church league teams. All teams interested in playing must attend. Call 382-3031 or 382-8708 for more information.

n Easter Egg Hunt

The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Beeland Sports Complex beginning at 10 a.m. April 15. The hunts will be open for toddlers through 2-year-olds; preschoolers ages 3-5 years and first and second graders. A gold and silver prize will be given for each division. n City Track Meet

The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual city track meet beginning at 10 a.m. April 22 at the old Greenville High football practice field on School Highland Road. In the event of rain, the meet will be rescheduled for April 29 at the same location. Call 382-3031 for more information.

n Kindergarten Registration

Mt. Moriah Baptist Church #2 Christian Academy is taking applications for 4-year-old children for our kindergarten program and school readiness program. Children's birthdates will have to be on or before Sept. 1. This is a free program. For more information, please call 563-7062.

n County Commission

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.

n Optimist Essay Contest

The Butler County Optimist Club is sponsoring the Optimist International Essay Contest beginning Dec. 31. The contest is open to students under age 19. The essay winner has a chance of winning a $5,000 college scholarship. The topic is &#8220I'm unique because.” The essay contest is broken into local club, district and international. n Athletic Club Meeting

The public is invited to participate at scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. every other Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.

n 21st Century Afterschool Program

The Butler County Board of Education will be offering a 21st Century Afterschool Program for K-8th grade students Monday-Friday until 5 p.m. at W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, and at the Education and Community Center for Greenville Middle School students.

Certified teachers assist with homework and offer learning activities which are fun and educational. Tuition is $25 per month. Registration forms are available at each of the sites.
