Reggie Mantooth looks forward to golf season each year.
The Fort Dale Academy boys and girls basketball coach says that this is the time of year that he gets the opportunity to decompress from a stressful basketball season and enjoy the outdoors and his Eagle golf team.
“I enjoy golf a lot because it's not as stressful as basketball season,” Mantooth said.
Mantooth's golf team got off to a successful start Monday by cruising to an easy win over Mobile Christian and Monroe Academy at the Vanity Fair Golf Course in Monroeville.
Will Farrar fired a low round 78 to pace the Eagles that finished with a total team score of 327.
“I expected Will to play well, but the three other guys really came on and played well for us,” Mantooth said. “Will has been consistent for us since he was a freshman.”
Ben Bates followed with a 79. Sanders Hancock shot an 85, while Cody Norman had an 87.
Mobile Christian finished 40 shots off the pace with a 377, while Monroe Academy had a 405.
Fort Dale tees it up again in a match with Sparta Academy on Monday at the Evergreen Country Club. The Eagles then will play in a 10-team tournament at River Run Golf Course in Montgomery, that is being hosted by Macon-East Montgomery Academy.
