Florala crushes Tigers in season-opener

McKenzie's baseball season opened on a sour note Tuesday when Florala used a 12-run second inning to propel the Wildcats to an easy 19-1 victory in five innings.
The Tigers (0-1) were held hitless by a committee of Florala pitchers although McKenzie did have two players draw a walk.
Daniel Ballard scored McKenzie's only run in the fourth inning after reaching on a free pass. Ballard finally scored on a wild pitch.
Florala jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and then tacked on 12 more in the second. The Wildcats then added another run in the fourth before Ballard helped McKenzie tally its only run of the afternoon.
Then Florala added five more runs in the fifth to close out the impressive victory.
Florala managed just eight hits and were helped in the winning effort by nine Tiger errors.
McKenzie is scheduled to return to action next Tuesday in a doubleheader at Red Level.
