Fort Dale opens with a victory

Fort Dale Academy's junior varsity softball team scattered 10 hits en route to an easy 13-2 victory over Escambi a Academy

to open the team's inaugural season Monday at Beeland Park.

Fort Dale raced to a 7-1 lead after the first inning and cruised the rest of the way to claim the victory in three and one half innings.

Katie Wilson threw a no-hitter in the Eagles' first ever junior varsity game, striking out 10.

Fort Dale tacked on another run in the second inning and five more in the third to open the season with a win.

Erin Taylor paced the Eagles at the plate with a double and two singles.

Abbey Martin, Murphy Middleton and Lori Fail also chipped in with two hits each.

Fort Dale returns to the diamond at 5 p.m. Monday to face South Montgomery County Academy at Beeland Park. The Lady Eagles follow that game Tuesday with a game against Meadowview Christian at Beeland Park.
