Fort Dale's girls tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season after picking up two more easy wins over Springwood and Lakeside schools.

The Eagles swept Lakeside dropping just five games total in the 7-0 win over the Lady Chiefs.

Janie Mullins, Elizabeth Dunklin and Renee Scott blanked their opponents in singles action, while the doubles team of Renee Scott and Dunklin shut out Lakeside's duo of April Trimback and Susanne Price.

Whitney Jacks topped Trimback in No. 2 singles 10-1, while Anna Beth Harris cruised by Carol Lowery 10-3 in No. 3 singles.

Fort Dale's No. 1 doubles team of Mullins and Jacks completed the shutout by coasting by Cassie Brown and Lowery, 8-1.

The Eagles completed the sweep Saturday in Troy by shutting out Springwood 7-0.

Mullins saw her toughest test of the season against Mary Martha Scott in No. 1 singles. Mullins held off Scott, 10-6.

Jacks knocked off Bunny Jones in No. 2 singles, 10-3, while Dunklin continued her unbeaten streak in No. 4 singles with a 10-4 victory over Jessica Bolton.

Scott was the only Fort Dale player to shut out her opponent in singles action by topping Hannah Smith, 10-0.

The No. 1 and 2 doubles Fort Dale teams cruised to easy wins dropping just one game each to close out the team's victory.

While the defending Class AAA champs have been unstoppable, Fort Dale's boys team is still searching for a team win this season.

The Eagles dropped to 0-4 after Saturday.

Andrew Jones remains a force in No. 1 singles action after topping both opponents. Jones cruised by Lakeside's Grayson Saville 10-1 and then edged Springwood's David Frazier, 10-2.

Fort Dale returned to action Tuesday against Cottage Hill Christian, but the results were not available by presstime.
