16th Annual Hank Williams Pageant slated for April 22

Summer approaches and with it, the return of the fabled Hank Williams Festival to Georgiana.

Young ladies from throughout the area are invited to be part of another tradition, the Sixteenth Annual Hank Williams Beauty Pageant, slated for 2 p.m. April 22 at Georgiana High School.

There are eight age divisions for the pageant: Baby Miss, age 0-11 months; Petite Miss, age 12 -23 months; Toddler Miss, age 2-3 years; Petite Miss, age 4-6 years; Mini Miss, age 7-9 years; Junior Miss, age 10-12 years; Teen Miss, age 13-15 years and Miss Hank Williams, age 16-21 years.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. on April 22 at the high school. No rehearsal time is scheduled, but the GHS Auditorium will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22 for anyone who wishes to make a walk-through.

Attire should be as follows: ages 0-9 years may wear their choice of heirloom, Sunday dress or formal; those ages 10 and up, should have a formal.

Each division will have a winner and three runners-up. There is also an optional photogenic division, with an entry fee of $5 per photo.

Register early for the pageant and save, City Clerk Ann Browder says.

&#8220The fee is $25 through tomorrow; then it goes up to $30 through April 19 and $35 on April 20 and 21.”

Deadline for entries is 7 p.m., April 21. No refunds will be made after April 19; only cash and money orders will be accepted five days prior to the pageant.
