Georgiana notched its third win in a row Monday afternoon after holding off county rival McKenzie, 7-2.
The last three wins have been against non-area teams although there is no chance the Panthers (4-8) will earn a spot in the playoffs. Georgiana was winless in the area and closes out its schedule against non-area opponents.
“We are just a young team, but we made some great progress since the start of the season,” Panthers coach Donald Ray Mixon said. “I feel good about this team and its future. I just want us to end the season on a good note.”
The Panther pitching duo of Terrance Whittle and Ronald Scott limited the Tigers to five hits and struck out 10.
Georgiana scored two runs in the first inning before McKenzie answered in the bottom half of the frame with a run.
The Panthers then tacked on a run in the second and third inning before putting the game out of reach in the seventh with two more runs.
Georgiana scattered nine hits with Chris Shows leading the Panthers with three.
Kevin Brogden, Kyle Nelson and Jerrad Lee had two hits each.
Sattrick Rudolph led McKenzie with two hits.
Georgiana earned its second win in a row Friday against an outmanned Hillcrest squad, 10-6.
The Panthers managed just four hits, while Hillcrest had seven.
Nelson led Georgiana by going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
After Hillcrest tied the game in the first inning, Georgiana tacked on three runs in the third to cruise the rest of the way.
The Panthers faced Hillcrest again Tuesday afternoon to look for their fourth win in a row, but results were not available.
