Greenville native John Cowles, 28, announced last week that he has qualified as a Democratic candidate for the office of Butler County coroner in the June 6 primary.
Cowles, 28, has more than six years experience as a paramedic.
He has served as an emergency medical technician for Simmons Ambulance for the last year in Monroeville.
Before that, the 1995 Greenville High graduate, served as an EMT for Rural Metro Ambulance in Atlanta.
“My family has deep roots in Greenville, and this county has always been home,” Cowles said. “I think I would be a good candidate for the job, if elected, because of my dedication, commitment to this county and my years of experience.”
Cowles is married to Kendra Cowles and has three children.
County corner Richard Hornsby chose not to seek re-election, leaving the position open for Cowles, Wayne Garlock, Virgil Acreman and Calvin ‘Bubba' Allen, to seek election to the office.
