Greenville’s own Beth Chapman was the guest of honor at a birthday bash in Shelby County , one hosted by a famed Alabama music sensation.
Randy Owen of
&uot;Alabama&uot; fame and his wife Kelly visited Shelby County last weekend to host a poolside birthday party and barbeque at the home of Doug and Gail Acton in celebration of Greenville native and State Auditor Beth Chapman’s 44th birthday.
Chapman is currently running for Secretary of State on the Republican ticket.
The Birthday Barbeque Bash was held poolside and catered by Tin Roof Barbeque of Hoover.
There were two gigantic birthday cakes adorned with red, white and blue in honor of Beth’s renowned patriotism.
One of the cakes was five tiers of alternating red, white and blue layers topped off with sparklers.
&uot;Some people leave Alabama, make it big and never come back or give back,&uot; Chapman said.
&uot;Not Randy and Kelly Owen – they are successful business people, active members of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and major supporters of FFA, 4-H and so much more.&uot;
More than 200 well wishers were on hand to hear the Owens. Former Governor Guy Hunt, Congressman Spencer Bachus, Attorney General Troy King and many others were there to wish Chapman a happy birthday.
&uot;Being with friends and family and having a great down home birthday party in Greenville, one weekend, followed up the next weekend by one in Birmingham where Randy and Kelly Owen attends and he leads the crowd in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to you – it doesn’t get much better than this,&uot; Chapman concluded.
