Longtime Butler County resident Charles G. Rogers has announced his candidacy as a Democrat for the office of probate judge.
Rogers will face incumbent, probate judge Steve Norman, and John Hall in the Democratic primary on June 6.
Rogers said this is the first time he has chosen to run for office.
“I would certainly appreciate the consideration of the voters of Butler County,” he said.
Rogers said he believed his lifelong experience in retail sales in Butler and the surrounding counties qualifies him for the job of probate judge.
“I considered myself to be very successful,” he said. “I'm fair, efficient and courteous. At one time I had 30 people working under my leadership and I feel like my management experience makes me a qualified candidate.”
Rogers said he feels his life's record speaks for itself.
“I believe the people of Butler County know who I am and what I stand for,” he said. “I would really like to have the job.”
Rogers is married to the former Judy Simmons, of Brantley. They have two children.
The winner of the June 6 primary will face Republican candidate Johnny Lee in the general election in November.
Registration to vote in this year's election ends on May 26.
