n Classic Car Show

Everyone is invited to the Fourth Annual Classic Car and Hot Rod Show on Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kiwanis Building in Andalusia. Activities include 50/50 drawing, silent auction, valve cover races, door prizes, and for children, spacewalk, face painting and games and prizes. Concessions are available. No alcoholic beverages allowed. Sponsored by Friends of the Relay for Life and the Red Level School Relay for Life teams. Children 8 and under get in free. Come see the General Lee!

n Historical Society Meeting

Butler County Historical and Genealogical Society Meeting

The Butler County Historical and Genealogical Society will hold their quarterly meeting today at 2 p.m. at Greenville City Hall. Nonnie Hardin, granddaughter of General J. B. Stanley, will share details of his life in conjunction with Confederate Memorial Day. The public is invited to attend.

n Church Concert

Shackleville Baptist Church will host the Workmen Quartet of Pensacola, Fla., at 1 p.m. April 30. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Call 382-2583 for more information.

n Georgiana Church Concert

The Georgiana First United Methodist Church will present &#8220One Great Hour of Singing” at the 11 a.m. service April 30. Featured singers will be Aaron Ledbetter Jr. and Frances L. Garner. Everyone is invited to attend.

n Fifth Sunday Singing

Awin Baptist Church on Highway 10-West will have its fifth Sunday singing on April 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be served and the singing will resume at 1 p.m. with Mrs. Becky Welch and the Southern Angels performing.

n Friends and Family Day

Mills Chapel Church of God will have Friends and Family Day during its regular church service at 11 a.m. April 30. Food, fellowship and singing will be held afterward. The church is located on County Road 77 in Crenshaw County. Call 496-2110 for more information.

The Wesley Chapel Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. May 6 at the cemetery grounds. Anyone interested is invited and encouraged to attend.

n Annual Yard Sale

The Burkville Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual yard sale 7 a.m.-1 p.m. May 6 at the fire station on Lowndes County Road 37. A drawing will be held at noon for a gift certificate and cookware. Community Care Network also will be giving free tests for diabetes and blood pressure checks on the day of the yard sale 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The 79th Homecoming will be held at Friendship Methodist Church in the Friendship Community beginning at 10:30 a.m. May 7. The Rev. Andy Till will be the speaker. Lunch will follow the service.

n Family Reunion

The annual Perdue-Sampley Family Reunion will be on Sunday May 7 at the Greenville Housing Authority on 601 Beeland St. Paper goods will be furnished. Make your plans to come and bring lunch.

n Steak Dinner

Greenville's football booster club, Tiger Pride, will host a kick-off classic fundraising steak dinner at 7 p.m. May 11 at the Dunbar Center in Greenville. Troy University coach Larry Blakeney will be the guest speaker. The cost is $25 per plate, which includes steak, potato, salad, bread and dessert.

Whitney National Bank, trustee of the Elizabeth D. Leckie Scholarship fund, announces applications can now be submitted. All new applicants and those reviewing their applications should see Melba H. n Moore Academy Reunion

Moore Academy Alumni, former teachers, students and friends, will hold its annual reunion on Saturday, 10 at the Moore Academy School in Pine Apple. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the historical main building where refreshments will be served. You are invited to visit the memorabilia room, as well as the veteran's collection room. The program will start at 11 a.m. in the gym, followed by a catered lunch. Lunch plates will be $10, no refunds. n Kindergarten Registration

Mt. Moriah Baptist Church #2 Christian Academy is taking applications for 4-year-old children for our kindergarten program and school readiness program. Children's birthdates will have to be on or before Sept. 1. This is a free program. For more information, please call 563-7062.

n County Commission

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.

n Athletic Club Meeting

The public is invited to participate at scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. every other Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.

n 21st Century Afterschool Program

The Butler County Board of Education will be offering a 21st Century Afterschool Program for K-8th grade students Monday-Friday until 5 p.m. at W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, and at the Education and Community Center for Greenville Middle School students.

Certified teachers assist with homework and offer learning activities which are fun and educational. Tuition is $25 per month. Registration forms are available at each of the sites.
