Special to The Journal

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity.

It is a unique event that offers communities an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.

Area teams are made up from churches, businesses, and schools.

Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.

These teams share a common purpose in supporting the American Cancer Society's mission.

For the first time, the Crenshaw County Relay For Life will have a hospitality tent, which will be visibly located just inside the gate. It will be set up for cancer survivors and for anyone who is not involved with a team.

This will provide supporters with an area to sit and rest while they watch all of the evening's activities. The Pepsi wagon will be set up at the hospitality tent where hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and coffee will be for sale.

A luminaria tent will be located inside the gate, and anyone who wishes may purchase a luminaria form up until the luminaria ceremony at 9 p.m.
