The outlook is promising for much-needed repairs to Georgiana’s sewer system, Mayor Lynn Watson says.
&uot;We have put together a really good grant application. During the clean-up efforts (in areas of Districts 2 and 3, between Austin School and the South Projects), we did a lot of videoing and found some bad areas in need of repair,&uot; the mayor said during this month’s city council meeting.
&uot;The clean-up efforts gave us 30 extra points toward the grant application, so I feel we have a really good chance to get it.&uot;
The council voted to approve Resolution No. 2006-02 – Application for CDBG Sewer Repair Grant.
Councilmember Mike Middleton mentioned those involved in the recent cleanup had also expressed interest in doing a similar cleanup in other parts of the town.
&uot;That would be great. We would be glad to help out again with trash bags and pickup; just let us know,&uot; Watson responded.
In other business, the council voted to approve a Special Event ABC License for the upcoming Hank Williams Festival to allow alcohol to be sold at the festival.
They also voted to approve Resolution No. 2006-03, an amendment to the Butler County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan as required by the EMA.
