GHS honors students for achievement

Greenville High School honored its top achievers during its Academic Awards Program held on May 15, 2006 in the GHS Auditorium. Those who maintained the highest grade point averages in their classes were recognized, along with A and A/B Honor Roll students, and those who had the highest averages in the areas of Math, English, Science and History. Nearly 100 students grades 9-12 were recognized for their academic successes and awards during the 2005-2006 school year.
Individual honors were as follows:
Aaron Rice and Clark Young – Boys State Representatives.
Andrew Allen Godwin –
Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference Participant.
Branddon Rashad Bailey- Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Summer Honors Scholarship.
Lauren Jill Bryan – Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Summer Honors Scholarship.
Nancy Ja'Na Johnson – Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Summer Honors Scholarship.
Nancy Johnson and William Kyle Tanner –
Civitan Club Good Citizenship Award.
Mesha Ashley, Branddon Bailey, Carrie Cawley, Vernon Harris, Nancy Johnson and Joseph Tyler Ray – National Leadership Forum and Seminar at Harding University Nominees.
Carrie Cawley and Nancy Johnson – Lions Club Leadership Camp Participants.
Haley Stinson – National Youth Leadership Forum of Law Washington, D.C.
A special presentation was made to Meghan Branum by Woodmen of the World representative Bodie Pickens. Branum was also selected as Girls State Representative.
Two retiring teachers, science instructor Mary Evelyn Edwards and English instructor Virginia Stallings, were also recognized by GHS Principal, Dr. Kathy Murphy.
“We are so proud of all our students and their accomplishments here at GHS and always look forward to the opportunity to recognize their achievements,” Murphy said.
