Red Sox take squeaker over Yankees, 6-5

Chip Taylor's three hits, including a double and a triple, proved to be the difference in the game June 1 as the Red Sox squeaked by the Yankees, 6-5, in Dixie Minors action.

Taylor, Ryan Burkett and Blake Harris each scored two runs in the win, with Burkett blasting a triple and Harris hitting a pair of singles. Joseph Peavy and Joseph Reaves also had hits for the winning team.

Leading the way for the Yankees was John Dunn and Chase Widdon, who each had a hit. Kyle Beasley scored two runs for the Yankees, while Dalton Hood, Jeffrey Register and Jeffrey Fuller each scored one.

Burkett picked up the win, striking out eight, while Dunn struck out 11 in the loss.

Twins 15, Braves 8

In a game where 23 runs were scored, Mike Smith came up the big hitting, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate June 1 as the Twins beat the Braves, 15-8.

Harper Vinson, Austin Norris and Justice Taylor each had two hits apiece, with Vinson scattering a double and a triple while Norris knocked in a home run.

Roscoe Moorehead, Brady Edge, Ben Presley and Clint Harrison also had hits for the Twins.

For the Braves, Cole Davis, Will Davis, Anthony Dunbar, Will Petty, Daniel Dicks, Ross Till, Samuel Norris and Toby King each scored a run.
