“The Magic of Narnia,” courtesy of the McWane Science Center of Birmingham, will arrive in the Camellia City this Friday, June 23.
The event kicks off at 3 p.m. at the Greenville-Butler County Public Library.
Children ages three through fifth grade and their parents/grandparents are welcome to attend.
“The McWane Center always puts on great programs. They always have an educational twist and are a lot of fun. It's a real ‘attention-getter' with the kids,” GBCPL Librarian Burke McFerrin said.
“This is something children in Birmingham get to enjoy since it is right around the corner from them. It's a real treat to have it here in Greenville.”
The program will kick off the library's Summer Reading Program, with the theme of “Once Upon a Time.” Storytelling, music, arts and crafts, refreshments and reading incentives will all be part of the four-week program.
Weekly age-appropriate programs begin Wednesday, June 28 and continue through July 29.
Ages three, four and five will meet on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.; K-5 and those who have completed first grade will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays, and those who have completed second, third and fourth grades will meet at 3 p.m. on Thursdays.
Daycare centers are asked to contact the library in advance before bringing large groups to the programs.
