Teens from across south Alabama will be converging on the town of Brantley next Friday, August 11, for a big back-to-school bash offering live music, drama, inspirational speaking and more.

The event, organized primarily by D.J. Hartin, is slated to kick off at 7 p.m. at the Mills Chapel Church of God, 9808 Ivy Creek Road in Brantley.

Organizers say youth from a number of churches plan to attend.

&#8220We have kids coming from Greenville, Georgiana, McKenzie, Luverne, Brantley, Andalusia, Eufaula and Elba,” Brittany Bird of Greenville, who is assisting Hartin, said.

Two bands are scheduled to

perform that evening.

Greenville's own Axis, a hard-rock Christian band, will headline the event, with drama offered by the Mills Chapel Youth Group.

&#8220They will be doing ‘Human Videos,' dramas set specifically to the music, including &#8220Praise You in the Storm,” by Casting Crowns,” Byrd said.

Ben Nelson of Greenville is slated to speak to the youth, with the lesson based on Habakkuk 1:5.

Those who attend just might find themselves on TV.

&#8220We are very excited that Alive-4-Life TV is coming down to film this event. This is a Christian channel seen in about two million homes in Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile,” Byrd said.

&#8220This is going to be a great evening and we want to see lots and lots of youth from all over this part of Alabama there.”

To reach Mills Chapel, travel northeast on U.S. 31 and turn right on Iris Lane; turn right onto County Road 45/S. Conecuh St.

Stay straight on CR-45 to go into CR-59. Turn left onto CR-83 (Greybeard Road).

Greybeard Road becomes Old Spring Road; make a slight right onto CR-77. End at 9808 Ivy Creek Road, Brantley.
