n Board of Education Meeting
The Butler County Board of Education will conduct its next regular meeting on Thursday, August 17 at 7 p.m. at the Butler County Board of Education Central Office Boardroom located at 215 Administrative Drive, Greenville, AL.
The public is encouraged to attend.
n Bethel UMC Homecoming and Revival
Bethel United Methodist Church, Rev. Joe Lisenby, pastor, will celebrate its homecoming with our annual Revival Service on Aug. 20, 2006.
Dr. Thomas Lane Butts of Monroeville, Alabama will be the guest speaker; the service starts at 11 a.m., followed by a covered dish dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Revival services will continue Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. with Dr. Butts as speaker and Becky Welch will serve as guest pianist.
n Mt. Pleasant Homecoming
Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Georgiana, will celebrate Homecoming at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2006. Randy Tucker, former pastor, will bring the morning message. There will be no Sunday School or evening services. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. Travis Johnson, interim pastor, invites everyone to come and worship during this special time.

Cemetery Association Meeting
A meeting of the Concord Cemetery Memorial Association is set for Saturday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Church. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend and bring a picnic lunch.
After lunch, everyone is invited to tour the cemetery and help in clean-up work. Wear suitable clothing and walking shoes.
Tabernacle Church is located on the Old Federal Road and can be reached from Interstate 65 via the Tyson Exit (drive over the freeway and head East if coming southbound), go down Cloverfield Road (SH 24), turn right on the Old Federal Road and in about two miles, you'll see Tabernacle Church on the right.
Sweet Home Homecoming and Revival
Pastor Mark Hawkins and the Sweet Home A.M.E. Zion Church invite you to come and worship with them in their Homecoming and Revival Services, August 30 through September 3. Revival services are Wed. Thurs. and Fri. nights with Pastor Johnny Sanders Jr. Saturday night singing is 6:30 p.m. Sept.2. Homecoming service is 2 p.m. Sept. 3 with Pastor Otis Fleeton Sr. to bring God's message.

The “Danny Granny” Pierce Reunion will be held at the Georgiana Senior Center Labor Day Weekend, Sunday, Sept. 3. The Pierce genealogical reunion will be held at the same location on Sept. 23' please bring all your family information then. For more info, contact 374-8015.
Pierce Family Reunion
This year's Pierce Family Genealogical Reunion will be held at the Georgiana Multi-Purpose Senior Center on Palmer Ave in Georgiana. This is like any family reunion – lots and lots of good food. Please bring your favorite dish or dishes along with information about your family line, i.e., pictures, obits, articles, marriage and death certificates so we can make copies. Adult Education Classes
The ADPE through the LBWCC Adult Education Consortium is offering classes for adults who did not complete their high school education or need to strengthen educational and job skills.

Old Greenville High Campus (BCECC) – 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Community Prayer Breakfast
A community prayer breakfast is held the first Wednesday of each month at 8 a.m. inn the Priester's Pecans dining area. Special guests share a variety of Christian topics each month. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring a friend. Call 334-391-0351 for more information.
Butler County Chess Club
The Greenville Chess Club meets on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Butler Baptist Associational Office, 309 South Pine Street.
Local chess players or those who would like to learn how to play are welcome.

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.
Athletic Club Meeting
The public is invited to participate at scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. every other Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.
21st Century After School Program
The Butler County School System will offer after school programs for K-8th grade students beginning August 14. Programs are available Mondays – Fridays through 5 p.m. for $25 per month at each of the following schools:
W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, Greenville Middle, R.L. Austin, and Georgiana High (7th & 8th grades). Registration is available at the school offices, at the Education & Community Center, and at www.butlerco.k12.al.us
