More burgeoning stars are on the horizon as the Greenville Area Arts Council (GAAC) prepares for a Sept. 12 casting call for the March 2007 show, “Puttin' on the Ritz 2.”
The open auditions are slated for 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday at the Ritz Theatre in downtown Greenville.
“We want to encourage everyone who can sing to come down and try out for a part in this great show. It's going to be great fun and a great community event,” Director Nancy Idland said.
“Puttin' on the Ritz 2” is a celebration of the last 25 years of theater in Greenville, courtesy of the GAAC.
It will serve as the council's primary fundraiser for the 2007-2008 season.
Performances are slated for March 2 and 3, 2007.
Lavish costumes and music from Broadway's greatest shows will be featured in the show, from “South Pacific” and “Oklahoma” to “Mame,” “Funny Girl,” “Brigadoon,” and more.
Roberta Gamble will serve as producer and costume designer and Charlie Kennedy will take the reins of musical director.
According to Idland, those auditioning next Tuesday should come prepared with an accompaniment CD or tape, their own accompanist or provide (in advance) music for the production pianist.
“We want to see lots of people turn out for this and we look forward to a great casting call on Tuesday,” the director said.
