In Friday night football action, the Cougars of Crenshaw Christian Academy allowed Autauga Christian Academy to jump out to a 12-0 lead at the half before answering with 10 points of their own in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough as CCA dropped an 18-12 loss to ACA.

&uot; We simply couldn’t get our running game to click, so we made some adjustments in the locker room and went to our passing game in the second half,&uot; said Head Coach Roland Jones.

&uot;Bryan (QB Bryan Brasington, senior) did a super job leading our passing attack. I think he completed 13 or 14 passes for us, and some of them were key.&uot;

Brasington actually hit on 14 of 33 passes for two touchdowns. His main target for the night was Senior Allen Sasser, who contributed six receptions for 116 yards and both scores, one for 37 yards and the other for 41. Chipping in two catches each were Jason Tutchtone, Chafin Johnson and Derek Manning.

Heading CCA’s stop unit was Matthew Walden with 15 tackles and one interception, following closely was Jake Page with 13, Paul Mcllwain and Manning with 12 each, Jarrod Pettie with 8, and Brasington with 7 and one interception. Adding 6 each were Johnson and Charlie Mack.

After knotting the game at 12 with 4:41 left in the third quarter, the score remained locked until ACA broke loose on a 9-yard jaunt to clinch the victory.

Coach Jones said, &uot;We’re proud of our guys. They played their hearts out, and we’ll win some games this season.&uot;

The 1-2 Cougars travel to Grady this Friday to take on South Montgomery Christian Academy at 7:30 pm.
