Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hendrix of Tabor City, S.C., announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kia Ann Hendrix, to Captain Jon James Countess, son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Countess of Huntsville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Oleta Fauk of Tabor City. S

he is a 1992 graduate of Tabor City High School in N.C.

A 1997 graduate of the University of N.C. at Wilmington, she received her bachelor's degree in nursing. Miss Hendrix is currently employed as a registered nurse at Intellistaf.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Haywood Thompson and the late Mr. and Mrs. S.S. Countess. A 1993 graduate of Buckhorn High School in New Market, Ala., he received his bachelor's degree in building science from Auburn University in 1998.

He was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a 2nd lieutenant after completion of the ROTC program at Auburn.

Captain Countess serves as a company commander in the U.S. Army and is posted at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.

The wedding is scheduled for 4 p.m., December 9, 2006 at Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo, N.C.
