A Greenville native who has penned a collection of entertaining and insightful essays on all things Southern will be in town this weekend to sign copies of her book.
Melinda Rainey Thompson, author of “SWAG: Southern Women Aging Gracefully,” will be at the Greenville-Butler County Public Library this Sunday, Nov. 5 for a book signing.
The event is slated for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“I am looking forward to coming back home and seeing my old friends - and I hope to meet some new ones,” Thompson said.
The author, a graduate of Fort Dale Academy and a former English instructor at Birmingham-Southern College, lives in Birmingham with her family.
Her book, a compilation of essays from a popular newsletter she sent out to avoid “mommy burnout,” also includes new material previously unpublished.
“It started out as a lark and it turned into a book. I have been so gratified by the response from readers across the country,” Thompson said.
Copies of “SWAG” will be available at the signing.
The book is also available at both major and independent book sellers.
