Sweet Potato Festival

The Butler County Optimist Club's Annual Sweet Potato Festival will be held on November 4, 2006 at the Butler County Fairgrounds. The festival begins at 10 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m.

Some of the activities include performances by the praise dancers from various churches, hula hoop contests, the seven-shape singers, and the crowning of the kings and queens.

Items for sale will vary; cakes, pies, cookies, hot dogs, candied apples, hot fish sandwiches, soft drinks, crocheted bedspreads and other items will be available. For further information, call 382-3203, 382-2722 or 382-3867.

The American Red Cross and the City of Greenville are conducting a blood drive today, Nov. 7, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Red Cross bus, 119 E. Commerce St., Greenville.
