Residents of Crenshaw County can expect to see a little more purple around town as the community prepares for the 2007 Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society's team event to fight cancer. A kick-off has been planned for November 14, 2006, and will officially get the new Relay season underway.
Relay For Life is the largest cancer fundraiser in the nation. Held in more than 4,200 communities nationwide last year, the event brings participants together to raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and patient support programs.
The 2006 Relay For Life
was a successful event, raising $77,500 for the American Cancer Society.
“We are looking forward to building on last year's event and are excited about having new teams and participants join us,” said Sal. Lee Sasser, event chair.
“This kick off is just the beginning of great things to come.”
The public is invited to learn more about Relay For Life at the kick off on Tuesday, November 14 at Harrison Cultural Center. It starts at 6:00 p.m.
