Eagle losing skid

Lowndes Academy senior Drew Harrell hit a jump shot with 45 seconds remaining Saturday night to give the Rebels the lead for good as they held on for the victory over the Fort Dale Eagles, 39-36.
The Rebels held a one-point lead at the end of the first period but the Eagles held Lowndes Academy scoreless in the second to take a 10-point lead into the half.
After holding that 10-point lead through the third, Lowndes' John Hooper tied the game with 1:20 remaining before Harrell gave the Rebels the lead for good.
Junior Davis Watts was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 10 points and five rebounds while teammates Ty Newton and Bobby Martin each finished with eight points. Newton pulled down a team-high nine rebounds while Martin pulled down four.
Ben Bates had four points and Cory Johnson, Cory Causey and Kendall Gibson each had two points in the loss.
For Lowndes Academy, Robin Hagood, who fouled out, was the leading scorer with nine points.
Drew Harrell and John Hooper each had six points in the win.
The Eagles return to action Friday as they play host to the Morgan Senators.
Evangel Christian 50, Fort Dale 33
The Evangel Christian Lions opened up an eight-point first-period lead Friday and never looked back as they rolled to a 50-33 win over the Fort Dale varsity Eagles.
Junior Bobby Martin was the Eagles' leading scorer with eight points while teammate Adam Vickery was next with seven points.
Andrew Jones had five points while Ty Newton and Cory Causey each had four points for Fort Dale.
For the Lions, Darrell Hunter was the game's leading scorer with 19 points. Keegan Sanders and Josh Hardte each had seven points and Terry Moorer had six in the win.
Taylor Road 45, Fort Dale 34
Although the Fort Dale varsity Eagles were able to hold the Taylor Road Tigers to just four points in the final period Dec. 29, it wasn't enough as the Tigers cruised to the nine-point victory, 45-34.
Andrew Jones was the leading scorer for the Eagles with eight points, followed by Steven Lee off the bench with seven points, Adam Vickery with six points and Davis Watts with five points.
For Taylor Road, Brandon Howard was the game's leading scorer with 18 points, followed by Micah Allen, Geoff Malone and Tony Smith each with six points.
Faith 52, Fort Dale 44
Holding just a two-point lead at the half, the Faith Rams blew open a 13-point third period lead and held on for the win Dec. 28 as they downed the Fort Dale Eagles, 52-44.
Junior Bobby Martin was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 11 points while teammate Ty Newton also scored in double-digits with 10 points.
Junior Davis Watts had seven points and Ben Bates had five in the loss.
Faith was led by Chris Bunle's 19 points, followed by Jason Howard's 10 points and KaAndre Niles' eight points.
Junior varsity boys
William Johnson's Fort Dale Academy junior varsity boy's basketball team got back on track Saturday afternoon as the Eagles regrouped from a three-point halftime deficit to take the win over the Lowndes Academy Rebels, 32-26.
Dustin Till was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 10 points while Stuart Matthews contributed eight in the win.
Jonathan Scott had six points and Luke Hutchenson and Eli Blackmon each had three for the Eagles.
For the Rebels, Kilpatrick was the leading scorer with 12 points while teammate Bozeman finished with eight.
The Fort Dale junior varsity boys will return to action Friday at home against the Morgan Senators.
Evangel Christian 36, Fort Dale 35
After holding the lead for the entire game, the Fort Dale Academy junior varsity boy's basketball team was not able to seal the deal and let the win slip away as the Evangel Christian Academy Lions took the one-point win, 36-35.
Stuart Matthews was the game's leading scorer with 16 points, including three three-pointers, while teammate Dustin Till finished with 10 points.
Wesley Burkett and Luke Hutchenson also each had three points for the Eagles.
For the Lions, T. Hardin was the leading scorer with 11 points, while S. Winston had nine.
