What has become a dining fixture for both locals and travelers eager for something other than “cookie-cutter fast food” has closed its doors. But not for long.
Just Julie's, located at 1052 Pineapple Highway in Greenville, served its last meals and specialty coffee drinks yesterday, January 26.
However, the popular eatery will re-open under new owners in just a few days.
“The great news is that three sisters – Rosemary Smith, Ann Edwards and Linda Morrison – will be carrying on the good food tradition we established here at Just Julie's,” owner Julie Autrey said.
Autrey said the new caf\u00E9, to be named Emily's (after the siblings' mother), will offer some of the same menu offerings as her restaurant, along with plenty of carry-out casseroles and dinners-to-go.
The restaurant is slated to re-open on Thursday, February 1.
“I know they are also going to be open weekend nights and Sundays, too, so there will be more opportunities to dine there,” Autrey said.
As for her own future plans, Autrey said she has had “several opportunities” to consider.
“Right now, I am not sure which direction I am taking, I will just have to sit down and think about it a bit,” she said with a laugh, adding, “The really good news is the caf\u00E9 will still be there for folks to enjoy.”
