CCA#039;s Malissa Pynes places first in District AISA math tournament; heads to state tournament

On Feb. 12, the Crenshaw Christian Academy math team traveled to Escambia Academy, near Atmore, to compete in the District AISA Math Tournament.

The senior high members were seniors Allen Sasser, Lacey Phillips, Lauryn Beck, and Anna Ray Snellgrove, and junior Malissa Pynes.

CCA's math team was awarded fourth place. Malissa Pynes won first place honors in the individual awards.

This accomplishment gained her a place in the upcoming state math tournament.

The high school's math team is sponsored by Mrs. Lenora Taylor.

CCA also sponsored a junior high team composed of sixth graders Eric Lowe and Thomas Mills, seventh graders Justin Fuller and Rann Smyth, and eighth graders Susannah Sport and Will Jackson.

The junior high school's math team sponsor is Mrs. Cricket Mount.

Other schools that participated in the district math tournament were Monroe, Wilcox, Fort Dale, and Escambia.
