Monday marked the first day of the special legislative session called by the governor.

Some balked at the special session, which focuses on the pursuit of landing a billion-dollar steel mill, saying that this type of work could be done during the regular session.

We disagree and are glad the governor called for this session. Plus, we are more encouraged that the states of Florida and Mississippi have jumped on the bandwagon to assist Alabama in pursuit of the steel mill.

This session will be key to attracting other multi-billion dollar companies to this state in the future.

Should this session go well, it would only mean more promise for the future and put Alabama on the forefront as a major economic developer in the U.S.

We are hopeful the session produces positive results.

This session is needed, and it may lead Alabama to a brighter future.
