Fort Dale tennis teams keep on winning

The Fort Dale Academy boy's and girl's tennis teams completed a sweep of the home Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars Friday afternoon and did not lose a match.
In the boy's action, Fort Dale's Andrew Jones defeated Michael Jackson 6-1, 6-1, Stephen Butts defeated Dylan Carr 6-1, 6-0, Logan Ausderau defeated Ethan Andrews 6-1, 6-2, Sean McKeague defeated David Garrison 6-0, 6-0 and David Foshee defeated Wesley Ballard 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles action, Jones and Butts defeated Jackson and Carr 8-2 and Ausderau and Foshee defeated Andrews and Garrison 8-5.
Following the match, Fort Dale head coach Johnny Mack Brown had nothing but praise for his team.
“They are a really good group and we've improved at every position,” Brown said.
Individually, Brown said Jones continues to prove why he is the No. 1 court player.
“Andrew Jones is probably the hardest worker and best player I have ever coached,” Brown said. “I use him as an example of what players should be like.”
In the girl's action, Fort Dale's Whitney Jacks defeated Danielle Welch 6-1, 6-1, Renee Scott, who has moved up from No. 5 the last two seasons to No. 2 this season, defeated Kristen Carver 6-1, 6-1, Elizabeth Dunklin defeated Mary Margaret Williams 6-0, 6-1, Kayla Butts defeated Lakan Beck 6-0, 6-1 and Ulli Sandstrom defeated Daisye Williams 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Jacks and Scott defeated Welch and Carver 8-0 while Dunklin and Butts defeated Williams and Beck also 8-0.
“Renee Scott comes and practices hard everyday,” Brown said. “She has improved, probably, more than anybody else on the team, boy's included.”
“She has really stepped up her game,” he added.

The Fort Dale boy's tennis team earned their first win of the season Tuesday as they took down Monroe Academy, 5-2.
Fort Dale's Andrew Jones defeated Thomas Williams 10-3, Stephen Butts defeated Andy Bolton 10-3, Monroe's Trenton McInnish defeated Fort Dale's Logan Ausderau 10-4, Fort Dale's Sean McKeague defeated Rayford Smith 9-9 (7-5) and David Foshee defeated Richard Martin 10-4.
In doubles action, Jones and Butts defeated Williams and Bolton 8-5 while Ausderau and McKeague fell to McInnish and Smith 8-4.
