Recently, Crenshaw Christian Academy held their inaugural induction into the newly formed Basketball Hall of Fame. Head basketball coach Michael Malpass said that the qualifications are very simple.
“ To be eligible for the Hall, one must be male or female, must have played varsity basketball for Crenshaw Christian Academy, and must have scored a minimum of one thousand points in his or her career,” Malpass said.
The first class of inductees began with Art Wise. Wise is a resident of Luverne, Alabama, and is employed by Hicks Inc. in Luverne. Wise and his wife Rose have two children, Mack and Jasmine.
Klein Jones, a 2006 graduate of CCA, is the son of Mike and Stephanie Jones. Klein is a freshman guard for the Huntingdon College Hawks in Montgomery, Alabama. Next is Mason Pettus, son of Dale and Carrie Pettus. Mason works offshore on the pipeline.
Following was the only female of the elite group, Lindsay Sport. Lindsay is the daughter of Merrill and Lisa Sport. She is a junior at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
Tommy and Barbara Windham had two sons inducted into the HOF. John Windham lives and works in Colorado. Tommy Windham, Jr., lives in Troy, Alabama, and works with Troy Cable. He is married and has two children.
Coach Malpass said, “The initial induction was a gala event. The school has been here since 1963, and we are extremely proud of our first class. Hopefully, we will have many members to come.”
