This past weekend proved to be a busy but successful one for the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office as three people were arrested with drug charges.
Johnny Ray Henderson, of 18513 Montgomery Highway in Highland Home, a white male, was already in the Prattville City Jail for charges of second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance (meth), and for possession of prescription drugs at the time a search warrant was issued for his residence.
Sheriff's deputies had been working with Officer Mark Harrell of the Prattville City Police Department on Friday, March 2, because Crenshaw County had information that Henderson, whose residence is directly across from Highland Home School, had been selling methamphetamine out of his commercial vehicle, an 18-wheeler, and had drugs in his home.
On March 2, the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office and the Dozier Police Department searched Henderson's residence and found three grams of meth and a small amount of marijuana.
In Crenshaw County, Henderson is being charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth), second-degree possession of marijuana, and for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Crenshaw County Investigator Robin Daniels.
Henderson is currently being held in Prattville under a $10,000 bond. Once he is released there, he will be brought to the Crenshaw County Jail.
Also, during Friday's search warrant, Wanda Booth Petty, a white female who is believed to be Henderson's girlfriend, pulled into Henderson's yard but immediately left. Crenshaw County Investigator Ronnie White stopped Petty in the Amoco parking lot for a traffic violation. Petty was asked to step outside of her vehicle because of an open beer container. Deputy Jeremy Douglas saw a bag of marijuana in the front ashtray of Petty's vehicle. Deputy Heath Truman was also present. Upon further searching, the deputies found a plastic bag containing two grams of crystal ice (meth) in it above the visor, a marijuana pipe and a smoked marijuana cigarette.
Petty was arrested and taken to the Crenshaw County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance (meth), second-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested under a $100,000 bond.
Daniels said that the Crenshaw County Sheriff's Office welcomes any assistance and information that the public may have on suspected drug activity within the county. The public can call the sheriff's office at 335-4675, and you do not have to leave your name.
