Eagles softball earns first win of the season

The Fort Dale Academy varsity softball picked up its first win of the season this week before dropping three consecutive games to Hooper and Morgan.

In Tuesday's game, the Eagles held the Morgan Senators scoreless through two innings before giving up a run in the third inning and another in the fourth.

The Senators scored five more runs in the sixth inning to put the game away, 7-1.

Offensively for Fort Dale, Carrie Coker, Anna Schofield and Murphy Middleton each had a hit while Michelle Hulick scored the Eagles' lone run in the final inning.

The Senators had eight hits at the plate, including three homeruns

Hooper 14, Fort Dale 1 (Game 1)

The Hooper Colts jumped out to an early 6-0 lead March 16 and never looked back as they took care of the Fort Dale Academy Eagles in the first game of a double-header, 14-1.

Casey Hicks scored the Eagles' lone run in the third inning.

Hooper 9, Fort Dale 2 (Game 2)

Holding a 2-1 lead in the third inning, the Fort Dale Academy Eagles could not hold Hooper Academy any longer as the Colts scored three runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the sixth inning to secure the 9-2 victory.

Casey Hicks, Abbey Martin and Murphy Middleton each had a hit for the Eagles with Middleton and Jessica Giddens each scoring a run.

Fort Dale 12, Sparta 8

In a make-up game from the first week of the season, the Fort Dale Academy Eagles picked up their first win of the season March 12 by defeating the Sparta Academy Spartans, 12-8.

Although the Eagles jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the third inning, the Spartans came storming back in the final two innings, scoring six runs.

The Eagles answered those runs with four of their own to take the win.

Abbey Martin scored three runs for the Eagles, followed by Casey Hicks, Anna Schofield and Cassie Burkett with two runs apiece and Haley Stinson, Jessica Giddens and Brittney Harvill with run each.
