FDA JV Eagles on a roll

Playing in their sixth game in five days, the Fort Dale Academy junior varsity baseball team improved to 11-4 on the season Thursday after sweeping the Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars 12-4 and 15-5.

In the first game, the Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 first-inning lead before watching the Cougars pull the game even in the top of the third inning.

The Eagles broke open the 2-2 tie in the bottom half of the third inning after scoring three runs and never looked back.

Offensively for the Eagles, Scott had a pair of hits while Todd Burkett, Daniel Nolan, Lewis and Matthew Burkett each had one in the win. Todd Burkett scored three runs while Nolan, Dustin Till,

For the Cougars, James had two hits while Pete and Tate each had one.

On the mound, Dustin Till earned the win with four strikeouts while Tate picked up the loss.

Fort Dale 15, CCA 5 (Game 2)

The Fort Dale Academy JV Eagles scored five runs in the first inning and 10 runs in the second inning during the second game of Thursday's double-header to take the sweep over the Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars, 15-5.

Todd Burkett, Matthew Burkett, Nathan Branum and Scott each had a hit for the Eagles. Dustin Till scored three runs in the win while Todd Burkett, Daniel Nolan, Branum, Lewis and Scott each scored two.

For CCA, Michael, James and Justin each had a hit.

Todd Burkett earned the win for the Eagles, striking out five batters, while Pete picked up the loss for CCA.
