After a delayed start to the 2007 season due to weather and testing, the Greenville High School golf team played in the first tournament of the year Monday at Cambrian Ridge and took the win over Brewbaker Tech, 224-231.

With the delayed start of the season and three of the five Greenville players playing competitively for the first time, Tiger head coach Josh McLendon said Monday's tournament was a bit unsteady, but overall a good showing.

&#8220Anytime you play Cambrian Ridge, it is going to be tough,” McLendon said. &#8220Our No. 1 and 2 guys did O.K., but even they'll tell you there were some things they could have done better.”

Playing in the nine-hole tournament, Greenville's Brandon Croley shot a 51, Adam Braden shot a 52, Josh Booker shot a 59 and Tyler Clark shot a 62.

Three Robert E. Lee golfers also participated in the tournament, but their scores did not figure into the final tally due to there only being three golfers.

The Tigers will return to the links Thursday as they travel to Bonnie Crest Country Club in Montgomery to play in an 18-hole tournament. Tee-time is at 1:30 p.m.
